Kilchis River Campground

Located about 8 miles north-east of Tillamook Oregon, this is a quiet and wonderfull small campground. Most of the time, being out of the way, yet so close to the ocean, it is comparatively empty, even when all the oceanside sites are “FULL”. It is a family park, with nice playground, horseshow pits, new restrooms and showers. When we visited, mid September, on a Friday night, all campgrounds near the highway or on the ocean were full. There were about 10 people here, well spread out, and very quiet.

Facilities include:
• Day Use
• 63 RV/Tent Sites
• Group Areas
• Hiker/Biker Sites
• Play Area
• Boat Launch
• River Access

There are around 1700 acres of pristine old growth forest and the Kilchis River, surrounding the campground! A trail starts at the upper end of the park, and follows the river. I only explored for about a mile, but got some great photographs.

Driving north from Tillamook on Hwy 101, about 2.4 miles out, turn right on Alderbrook Rd. In another mile, turn right on Kilchis River Rd. (watch for potholes! and cows), and follow it roughly 3.5 miles to the park.
